HDR's Traffic Engineer will: serve as a project manager or task leader for transportation planning, traffic engineering analysis, safety analysis and project development; develop traffic studies including traffic impact analyses, corridor studies, access management studies, historic/predictive safety analysis, traffic signal timing plans, microscopic simulation modeling, and macroscopic simulation modeling; prepare plans, specifications, and estimates documents including signing and striping, traffic signals, illumination, and Intelligent Traffic Systems for various state and local agencies; prepare or review scopes, budgets, and schedules; write reports and technical memorandums; coordinate with subconsultants and clients to keep projects on schedule and within budget; work closely with the Area Manager, Transportation Business Group Manager, Transportation Program Manager, Section Managers, and multiple Project Managers for project reviews; implement project quality plans; and support and advise junior engineers and technical staff as needed.

  • A Master's Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 3 years of experience in traffic engineering or a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 5 years of experience in traffic engineering.
  • Required experience must include experience in: Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) projects; traffic safety analysis using IHSDM, ISATE, HSS, and other TxDOT tools; data analysis using MS Excel and Python; Highway Capacity Software (HCS); Synchro; VISSIM; OpenRoads; GEOPAK; and MicroStation.

  • Professional Engineer licensure is not a prerequisite for this position.
