About The Position

The Traffic Designer/Engineer position at Psomas involves planning, organizing, and supervising transportation and traffic engineering work. The role requires interaction and coordination with various departments and stakeholders, along with performing technical tasks related to traffic engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
• Minimum 3 years of experience in engineering and design with a focus on traffic engineering, roadway and/or highway design
• Technical knowledge in traffic engineering with experience in preparing technical reports, designs, specifications, and computations
• Familiarity with local design and procedures, regulatory compliance and agency coordination
• Understanding of schedule, budget, and scope of services
• A team player in a collaborative environment

Responsibilities

• Coordinates activities of assigned engineering and administrative staff at Psomas or a client agency
• Develops the design of signing and striping, traffic control, traffic signal timing, traffic signal and intelligent transportation systems (ITS)
• Performs or supervises the conduct of traffic and transportation research, analysis, planning, and studies
• Prepares or assists in the preparation of project reports, plans, specifications, estimates, grant applications, progress reports, and other technical documents; supervises, trains, and evaluates assigned staff
• Prepares or assists in the preparation of budget; makes presentations to elected commissions or councils, and community groups of an agency client
• Responds to inquiries and work requests by the public, and/or agency Council and Commission offices
• Performs other related duties as required by Psomas' agency client
• Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing
