We are currently searching for an experienced Traffic Design Engineer to support our Southeast Region located in Miami or Fort Lauderdale, FL. Requirements

  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • 3 - 6 years of traffic engineering experience
  • FL PE license is required
  • PTOE is preferred
  • Membership and involvement in transportation industry organizations such as WTS, ASCE, and ITE will be preferred, if not already a member
  • Knowledge in transportation planning, including comprehensive corridor analysis, DOT local programs (beneficial), public involvement, safety and access, pedestrian and bicycle planning, multimodal planning and traffic operations
  • Familiarity in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD (OpenRoads/InRoads preferred)
  • Familiarity with DOT and/or general DOT traffic design standards, MUTCD and AASHTO
  • Proficiency in traffic analyses software such as VISSIM, Synchro/Simtraffic, Sidra Intersection, HCS
  • Self-starter and capable of completing tasks with minimal oversight
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
  • Willingness and motivation to curate and foster personal client base
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment
  • Valid driver’s license
  • A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare technical reports for traffic impact studies, interchange access requests, or safety studies
  • Prepare and manage the development of traffic impact studies, land use planning, master plan studies, traffic signal warrant studies, bikeway planning and design, community and campus planning, technical report writing
  • Prepare traffic signal design plans for new intersections and signal modifications to facilitate multimodal accommodations
  • Prepare temporary traffic control plan/traffic management plan (TMP) and signing, pavement marking plans
  • Prepare Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) design plans
  • Assist in preparing conceptual intersection layouts, schematics, signal timings and engineering reports
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers
  • Attend project meetings with clients
  • Manage project budgets to meet financial metrics
  • Responsible for business development activities
