Austin Bridge & Road Traffic Control Supervisor oversees work zone traffic control operations on Texas Department of Transportation projects. This role ensures all setups follow TxDOT standards, MUTCD requirements, and project specific traffic control plans while leading crews and maintaining a safe work environment for workers and the traveling public.

Requirements

Strong communication and decision‑making abilities.
Ability to read and interpret TxDOT plans.
High attention to safety and situational awareness.
Ability to work outdoors, including nights and weekends as required.
Experience in roadway traffic control.
Strong knowledge of TxDOT TCP standards and MUTCD guidelines.
Valid driver’s license
Proven leadership experience with field crews.

Nice To Haves

preferably on TxDOT projects
ATSSA or Texas‑equivalent TCS/TCT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Supervise traffic control crews during setup, maintenance, and removal of lane closures, detours, and flagging operations.
Implement and adjust TxDOT‑approved Traffic Control Plans (TCPs) based on field conditions.
Ensure all devices—signs, cones, barricades, arrow boards, and message boards—meet TxDOT specifications.
Conduct daily safety briefings and enforce TxDOT and company safety policies.
Coordinate with TxDOT inspectors, contractors, and law enforcement regarding closures and traffic shifts.
Complete daily logs, closure reports, and equipment documentation.
