Job Description Constructs/fabricates and erects signs in compliance with Texas Code. Drives roads to inspect condition of existing road signs; replaces damaged, destroyed or disfigured signs. Reports condition of roads and bridges during sign inspection. Maintains current records of all signs erected and replaced; updates sign inventory. Fabricates and maintains barricades. Recommends and orders materials and equipment required for sign maintenance. Reviews technical specifications for signs and maintains current knowledge of revision to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Recommend equipment expenditures. Signs for and is held financially accountable for equipment issued. May stripe roads as necessary. May plan, assign, review and supervise the work of part-time/summer help or sign and carpentry crews; assists others with their duties. Participates in on-call schedule. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers
