About The Position

The position involves performing traffic control duties in conjunction with Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) and construction crews. The Certified Flagger is responsible for ensuring the safe flow of traffic around construction zones and effectively communicating with site workers and motorists.

Requirements

• Demonstrable previous experience as a Certified Flagger.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
• Three (3) or more years experience as a Certified Flagger in the heavy highway industry preferred.
• Flagger certification required.
• Ability to understand work directions and communicate effectively with management and fellow employees.

Responsibilities

• Perform flagging and other traffic control duties as required.
• Direct traffic flow safely around workers/construction zone.
• Effectively communicate with site workers to provide correct direction to motorists.
• Record and report vehicle information of disobedient/unsafe drivers as needed.
• Follow and adhere to all Blythe and NCDOT safety standards and guidelines in all traffic and construction zones.
• Follow recommended methods and procedures set forth by supervisor for traffic maintenance operations.
• Place barrels, signs, barricades, traffic cones, etc. as needed.
• Remain observant of traffic and surroundings at all times.
• Effectively communicate with co-workers to facilitate traffic movement.
