About The Position

As a Protector, you will work with a team at job sites for AWP Safety, America’s leading traffic management company. No prior experience or degree is needed as comprehensive training is provided. The role emphasizes safety above all else, with support for career building. Daily tasks involve setting up and taking down traffic control equipment like cones, signs, and barricades, and using a stop/slow paddle to guide traffic. You will be responsible for monitoring traffic and job site activity, adhering to all safety rules learned in training, and communicating effectively with your crew and supervisor. The position also includes helping to maintain the cleanliness and safety of vehicles and equipment. This role requires working outdoors year-round in all weather conditions. Shifts can vary, potentially including nights, weekends, or emergency work, and may involve standing or walking for 8 to 12 hours per shift. AWP Safety provides essential safety gear, but you must supply your own steel-toe safety boots that go above the ankle. This is considered a safety-sensitive position, requiring a valid driver’s license, the ability to perform physical tasks, and a flexible schedule with punctuality. All applicants must pass a pre-hire screening, including a drug test, and are expected to remain alert around moving traffic and treat all individuals with respect.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Able to stand, walk, and work outside for long periods
  • Able to lift 40–50 pounds
  • Willing to work in traffic and changing weather
  • Flexible schedule; Show up on time, every shift
  • Must pass pre-hire screening, including a drug test (this is a safety sensitive job)

Responsibilities

  • Setting up cones, signs, and barricades and taking traffic control equipment down
  • Using a stop/slow paddle to guide traffic, watching traffic and job site activity
  • Following all safety rules taught in training
  • Communicating with your crew and supervisor
  • Helping keep vehicles and equipment clean and safe
  • Working outside all year, in all weather
  • Standing or walking 8 to 12 hours per shift
  • Staying alert around moving traffic and following all safety rules all the time
  • Treating coworkers, clients, and the public with respect
