About The Position

As a Protector at AWP Safety, America’s leading traffic management company, you will work with a team at job sites. No prior experience or degree is needed as the company provides training and support to help build a career in traffic safety. Safety is the top priority. The role involves setting up and taking down traffic control equipment, guiding traffic with a stop/slow paddle, monitoring traffic and job site activity, and adhering to all safety rules. Protectors are expected to communicate with their crew and supervisor, help maintain vehicles and equipment, and work outdoors in all weather conditions throughout the year. Shifts can vary, potentially including nights, weekends, or emergency work, and may require standing or walking for 8 to 12 hours per shift. The company provides essential safety gear, but employees must provide their own steel-toe safety boots.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license
Able to stand, walk, and work outside for long periods
Able to lift 40–50 pounds
Willing to work in traffic and changing weather
Flexible schedule; Show up on time, every shift
Must pass pre-hire screening, including a drug test (this is a safety sensitive job)
Stay alert around moving traffic and follow all safety rules all the time
Treat coworkers, clients, and the public with respect
Bring your own steel toe safety boots that go above the ankle

Responsibilities

Setting up cones, signs, and barricades and taking traffic control equipment down
Using a stop/slow paddle to guide traffic, watching traffic and job site activity
Following all safety rules taught in training
Communicating with your crew and supervisor
Helping keep vehicles and equipment clean and safe
Working outside all year, in all weather
Standing or walking 8 to 12 hours per shift
