About The Position

As a Protector with AWP Safety, this role involves working with a team at various job sites to manage traffic. No prior experience or degree is required as the company provides training and support for career development. The position emphasizes safety as a top priority. Daily tasks include setting up and taking down traffic control equipment, guiding traffic with a stop/slow paddle, monitoring job site activity, adhering to safety rules, communicating with the team, and maintaining vehicles and equipment. The work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, and shifts can vary, potentially including nights, weekends, or emergency work. The role requires standing or walking for 8 to 12 hours per shift. The company provides essential safety gear, but employees must supply their own steel-toe safety boots that go above the ankle.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license
Able to stand, walk, and work outside for long periods
Able to lift 40–50 pounds
Willing to work in traffic and changing weather
Flexible schedule; Show up on time, every shift
Must pass pre-hire screening, including a drug test (this is a safety sensitive job)
Stay alert around moving traffic and follow all safety rules all the time
Treat coworkers, clients, and the public with respect

Responsibilities

Setting up cones, signs, and barricades and taking traffic control equipment down
Using a stop/slow paddle to guide traffic, watching traffic and job site activity
Following all safety rules taught in training
Communicating with your crew and supervisor
Helping keep vehicles and equipment clean and safe
Working outside all year, in all weather
Standing or walking 8 to 12 hours per shift
