About The Position

Akuna Capital is an innovative trading firm focused on collaboration, cutting-edge technology, data-driven solutions, and automation. Our firm designs and implements low latency technologies, trading strategies, and mathematical models to achieve this. Founded in Sydney, Akuna opened its first office in Chicago in 2011 and now operates additional offices in Sydney, Shanghai, and London. As a Trading Sneak Peek Week participant, you will engage in a week-long seminar at our Chicago headquarters, showcasing derivatives trading. This program aims to promote inclusion and diversity in the workforce by bringing together applicants who champion underrepresented talent and are interested in a sneak peek of life as a trader in the options market-making industry. During the program, you will collaborate with dedicated trader trainers, learn about risk management, game theory, and optimal decision-making, and apply your knowledge in real-time trading simulations. You will also have the opportunity to shadow our trading desks and learn about Akuna's unique approach to being a global liquidity provider/market maker.

Requirements

• Graduating between December 2025 – July 2026.
• Pursuing a BS/MS/PhD in engineering, economics, statistics, mathematics, computer science, actuarial science, or a related field.
• Able to attend the program in person at Akuna’s Chicago headquarters from August 18 – 22.
• Entrepreneurial self-starter ready to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
• Strong math, numerical, and quantitative skills.
• Demonstrable interest in trading and financial markets.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required on the first day of employment.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a crash course on options trading.
• Collaborate with trader trainers to learn risk management, game theory, and decision-making.
• Engage in educational trading games and simulations.
• Shadow trading desks to understand market-making processes.
