Bentley University seeks to fill a joint position as Lecturer of Finance and Director of the Trading Room for the academic year 2024-2025, starting in Fall 2024. The Director will report to the Chair of the Finance Department and the Senior Associate Dean of Business. This role encompasses a dual responsibility: overseeing the operations of the Hughey Center for Financial Services/Trading Room and teaching finance courses at the undergraduate level. As the Director of the Trading Room, the individual will be responsible for the overall supervision of the Trading Room, which includes managing payroll, staff hiring and training, scheduling events, preparing and forecasting budgets, and maintaining relationships with vendors. The Director will also work on social media and website management, collaborate with the Academic Technology Center to identify technology needs, and liaise with guest speakers, corporate guests, and senior administrators. Additionally, the Director will work closely with the Chair of the Finance Department to recruit guest speakers for Fireside Chats and develop executive training programs. In the teaching capacity, the Director will be expected to teach five courses per year, focusing on introductory and upper-level finance courses. The ideal candidate will possess a graduate degree in finance or a related discipline, with previous experience in a trading room environment being highly desirable. Proficiency in using Bloomberg Terminal and experience with securities valuation and trading course design are essential. The role also requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to travel to major financial hubs such as Boston, NYC, and Chicago to maintain visibility within the financial community.
