About The Position

As a Trading Operations Analyst Intern, you’ll work in the heart of Optiver Chicago’s dynamic trading floor solving real-world, on-the-desk challenges. Over the course of ten weeks, you’ll gain full insight into what it’s like to be a successful Trading Operations Analyst at Optiver, arming you to hit the ground running as a future full-time employee driving innovation and managing the daily operations of our market making activity. We’re looking for exceptional individuals with an engineering mindset who are passionate about excellence, ownership and collaboration – values at the heart of Optiver’s culture.

Requirements

• Working toward a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in a STEM field.
• Junior or higher standing with a graduation date of Winter 2026 or Spring 2027.
• Graduated high school in 2023 or prior.
• Proficiency with a programming language, preferably Python.
• Possess superior analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communicator and team player.
• Able to work in an accurate and structured way.
• Driven to constantly improve and optimize.
• Able to work under pressure and multi-task.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

Responsibilities

• Learn trading fundamentals and complete projects focused on enhancing and optimizing Optiver’s market making infrastructure.
• Develop a broad set of skills across technology, data analysis, and automated trading systems.
• Work cross-functionally with developers, quantitative researchers, and quantitative traders.
• Monitor strategy performance and manage critical inputs to the trading system.
• Oversee real-time risk of trading systems and positions.
• Deliver data-driven insights that refine trading strategies.
• Design and implement automated workflows that scale efficiently and safely.
