About The Position

The Trading Associate position is responsible for trading at SFMG. This is a vital role in the firm and requires great attention to detail. The position supports all our advisors in executing and recommending various types of trades on behalf of our clients. The role requires a unique combination of operational skills and investment knowledge. The Trading Associate will collaborate with multiple teams, including Client Service, Operations, Advisory, and the broader Investment Team on various projects and initiatives. Candidate Characteristic/Disposition The ideal candidate must be team-oriented and possess strong interactive skills. The position requires the ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks/projects, and work in a deadline-oriented environment. Candidates should have excellent attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively with advisors. A high level of technical proficiency and rapid adaptability to new programs is crucial for this position.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree preferred; degrees in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or other analytical disciplines are encouraged to apply.
Experience: 1-3 years’ financial service or other relevant experience preferred.
Technical Proficiency: Microsoft Office Applications, Excel
Standard business hours are expected (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.); however, this role may require additional time and schedule flexibility based on workload, deadlines, or business demands.

Responsibilities

Ensure data accuracy across all portfolio management and trading systems
Set up new accounts and portfolios.
Oversee the accuracy and upkeep of securities settings, models, trade instructions, portfolio and account preferences, and all other related items in the Trading Task Queue.
Trade execution and allocation, including block trading.
Trade verification / reconciliation.
Ability to understand ETFs, Mutual Funds, Stocks, Fixed Income Products, Options
Seek to maximize the utilization of trading and rebalancing systems.
Produce and suggest trades for advisor review.
Identify portfolio rebalancing opportunities or other transactions that may benefit our clients.
Develop rebalancing reports and assist with related projects.
Generate portfolio allocation, cash, and margin summaries for advisors on a recurring basis.
Assist with SFMG’s Quarterly Reporting process and Annual Filings.
Assist with processes or workflows in our CRM for the Alternative Investment team, Investment Management team, and Operations department as needed.
Other ad hoc projects as needed.
