About The Position

This position involves skilled manual work at the journeyman level in several of the skilled trades. An individual in this class has general construction and maintenance responsibilities for a large facility(s). Duties involve performing the actual work. Work is performed under general supervision.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Use standard hand tools and equipment common to the mechanical and structural trades.
• Knowledge of the occupational hazards of: mechanical and electrical building equipment; tools and equipment associated with maintenance activities.
• Relate well with others (customers, co-workers, supervisors, etc.).
• Learn and use basic computer skills.
• Perform administrative functions related to building systems maintenance (complete forms, record filing, etc.)
• Stand, walk, stoop, squat, climb stairs, work from standard and/or extended ladders and lift up to 75 lbs during a normal 8 hours work shift.
• Work under adverse weather conditions (heat, rain cold)
• Driving to perform job related duties

Responsibilities

• Assist in troubleshooting and repair problems with building systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural) and related components.
• Perform preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment.
• Operate building systems and monitor their performance.
• Prepare work related documents (work orders, vouchers, reports, purchase request, etc.)
• Communicate via phone and in person to coordinate work.
• Other duties as required and assigned by supervisor.
