About The Position

Plans, supervises and assigns work to trades crews engaged in general repair, maintenance or construction activities that involve one or more trades, such as carpentry, masonry, electricity, welding, heating, venting and air conditioning (HVAC), automotive repairs, plumbing and boiler operation. Screens, selects and provides on-the-job training for trades personnel. Makes recommendations on the repair, replacement and maintenance of buildings and equipment. Plans, organizes, schedules, monitors and evaluates trades activities. Assists in the compilation of data; prepares correspondence, reports, summaries and budgets. Maintains, rebuilds and tunes pianos. Performs high level trades skills in the maintenance and repair of military equipment. 20% Makes inspections and correct inspection deficiencies. Participates in scheduled and unscheduled outages, fire alarms and emergencies. When work is being done in an assigned area by contractors or by in-house shop personnel, provide assistance, as directed, to area coordinators, contract inspectors, foremen, and supervisors in monitoring the work and providing maintenance support when needed. 20% Performs PM’s. Participates in scheduled and unscheduled outages, fire alarms and emergencies. 20% Completes maintenance work orders. Troubleshoots basic mechanical problems, determines and isolates sources of leaks. Demonstrates a general understanding of electronic circuitry, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Cleans equipment's, equipment rooms, and work sites. Communicates work status to supervisor by providing comments on work orders, communicating to supervisor if shop support is needed or work order was redirected to another shop, work delays or emergency/urgent work. Writes work requests for recommended O&M work. Work requests should be forwarded through the Building Engineer. 20% Answers trouble calls in assigned area. These calls involve all trades, including, but not limited to electrical, plumbing, mechanical, etc… Examples of specific tasks are repairing or replacing plumbing fixtures, flush valves, hot and cold-water systems, replacing lights, ballasts, fixtures, outlets, hanging pictures, replacing ceiling tiles. 20% Administrative duties. Maintains a daily log of work accomplished to be reviewed by supervisor. Creates material lists for assigned tasks and loads and unloads supplies. Maintains current certifications required for job duties. Writes work requests for recommended O & M work that will be forwarded through immediate supervisor. Turns in paperwork in a timely manner with little to no errors.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and three years trade experience that is directly related to the area of employment.
  • Some positions require a commercial driver's license.
  • Some positions require EPA-approved freon recovery certification.
