About The Position

The Trades Specialist is responsible for performing skilled maintenance and repair work across multiple college campuses to ensure the functionality and safety of campus buildings. This position focuses on the upkeep of specific building systems and requires strong technical knowledge to maintain facilities at a high operational standard. This position has a heightened focus on electrical work.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Five (5) years of related work experience in the structural trades appropriate to the work assignment (electrical) or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
  • Safety Certifications for Forklift, Skid loader, and Manlift (or ability to become certified within twelve (12) months of hire).
  • Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and use necessary hand tools associated with the trades with proficiency.
  • Must be able to pass a complete background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman license in electrical or plumbing, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Install, alter, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot multiple types of electrical systems, electrical fixtures and equipment.
  • Read, interpret blueprints, sketches, schematics, diagrams and specifications.
  • Estimate materials needed to complete assigned tasks and order materials.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems, electrical fixtures and related equipment.
  • Install, remodel, renovate, alter, repair walls, and related applications including taping drywall, mudding, applying applicable texturing.
  • Work with Event Planning and Event Logistics staff in preparing for an event requiring electrical hooks ups, equipment, etc.
  • Maintain entryways and walkways up to 20’ free from snow and ice by means of specialized equipment or by hand.
