About The Position

The Trades Specialist Electrician will perform a variety of skilled electrical repairs, installation of new circuits and various electrical repairs in multiple community residences and various other buildings as well as the main Westfall campus. This position requires performing journeyman level electrical duties, having a working knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the electrical trade, and repairing, maintaining, and installing electrical systems and equipment in accordance with the National Electrical Code. The role also involves locating and determining electrical malfunctions using test instruments, planning new or modifying installations, reading and interpreting plans and specifications, and performing maintenance on mechanical equipment. Daily travel within the 10 county district is required.

Requirements

  • Four years of full-time experience in the electrical trade under a skilled tradesperson.
  • Completion of technical courses in the electrical trade or equivalent training.
  • Successful completion of the two-year Trades Specialist (Electrician) traineeship or equivalent program.
  • Valid New York State driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform journeyman level electrical duties.
  • Repair, maintain, and install electrical systems and equipment including fixtures, motors, load centers, relays, controls, circuitry, and related equipment.
  • Locate and determine electrical malfunctions using test instruments.
  • Plan new or modify installations consistent with specifications and national electrical code.
  • Read and interpret plans, codes, diagrams, architectural blueprints, and specifications.
  • Test, adjust, calibrate, and maintain control equipment for various systems.
  • Perform maintenance and preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment.
  • May be required to train and supervise others.
