About The Position
The Trades Specialist (Electrician) position at the Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation in Suffolk County involves a range of responsibilities centered around the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems within various state parks. The role requires a skilled tradesperson with a strong background in electrical work, capable of diagnosing and resolving electrical malfunctions, ensuring safety and efficiency in all operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing fixtures, motors, and various electrical components in accordance with specifications and electrical codes. This position also entails supervising and training subordinate staff in the proper use of tools and equipment necessary for electrical maintenance, as well as maintaining a clean and safe work environment. In addition to hands-on electrical work, the Trades Specialist will conduct inspections of facilities and equipment, making recommendations for repairs or replacements as needed. The role requires interpreting and following architectural blueprints, diagrams, and specifications to ensure compliance with safety standards. The selected candidate will also be expected to operate light trucks, passenger vehicles, and other equipment as required, and may need to prepare job estimates and order supplies for the shop.
