Assist with the operation and maintenance of DEC facilities, including buildings, flood control projects, wildlife management areas, fishing access sites, and state forests. Will be required to operate equipment and power tools safely and efficiently. Required to operate highway vehicles including but not limited to medium and heavy-duty dump trucks or stake body trucks. A CDL A license will be required within 12 months of appointment to move materials and equipment to and from jobsites also to transport trucks and equipment to maintenance facilities and assist with diagnosing mechanical issues. Candidate may be required to perform a variety of tasks within the buildings and grounds maintenance trades including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, painting, sawyer, mowing, landscaping, equipment operation, and snow removal. May be required to operate and assist with maintenance on diverse types of motor equipment to include but not limited to dump trucks, bulldozers, excavators, loaders, mowers, tractors, roller/compactors, skid steers, chain saws, road graders, snowplows, and motorboats. Will be required to assist with office tasks such as work orders, vehicle reports, invoicing, etc. Provide written documentation of work performed, as well as purchasing, fuel usage, mileage reporting, etc. Supervise and train other Operations and Green Thumb staff as needed.
