About The Position

The Trade Spend Specialist (Entry Level) supports the day-to-day tracking, reporting, and reconciliation of trade and promotional spending across retail, e-commerce, and distributor channels for a growing supplement CPG company. This role is ideal for someone early in their finance or CPG career who is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and interested in revenue management and commercial finance. The Specialist partners closely with Sales, Finance, and Accounting to ensure trade expenditures are accurately captured, reconciled, and reported. This position provides hands-on exposure to promotional analysis, cross-functional collaboration, and foundational CPG financial processes, offering strong growth potential within commercial finance.!

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related field (or near completion. Or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in finance, accounting, analytics, or a related internship/co-op
  • Entry-level experience in CPG distribution, retail, and e-commerce
  • Experience with Kehe, UNFI and large format grocery and natural retailers
  • Interest in consumer goods, supplements, or wellness products
  • Strong Excel skills (formulas, basic lookups, pivot tables)
  • Exposure to trade promotions, pricing, or sales support concepts
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage deadlines and follow structured processes.
  • Proficient with Zoom, Teams, office software, and quick to learn new digital tools.

Responsibilities

  • Track trade spend budgets, accruals, and actuals by customer, channel, and promotion
  • Prepare monthly trade accruals and support variance analysis
  • Review and validate customer deductions, billbacks, and promotional claims; manage dispute follow-up as needed
  • Maintain organized trade agreements and promotional documentation
  • Prepare recurring reports on trade spend, promotional activity, and budget pacing
  • Assist with post-promotion analysis (spend vs. plan, basic performance indicators)
  • Support Sales by validating promotional setups, funding details, and plan alignment
  • Enter and maintain promotional, deduction, and chargeback data in ERP and Excel trackers
  • Partner with Finance to reconcile ERP data with financial reporting
  • Manage vendor portals, new item submissions, and broker car stock budgets
  • Communicate discrepancies to stakeholders and follow established processes to ensure data accuracy
  • Support ad hoc analysis and participate in ongoing training in trade spend and CPG financial processes
