About The Position

The Trade Compliance Supervisor oversees all day-to-day activities of the Trade Compliance team. This role will monitor and oversee activities to ensure compliance with Trade Regulations within the Americas which include tariffs, supply chain security, customs regulations, and dangerous goods. The Trade Compliance Supervisor communicates critical information between Murata’s operations, management, and business partners related to Trade Compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • 4+ years of applicable work experience in international logistics or trade compliance.
  • Interpersonal skills, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Analyze problems where established procedures may not exist and coordinate resources to achieve a common goal.
  • Evaluate and prioritize multiple activities with respect to importance for the customer and Murata.
  • Effectively evaluate situations and respond appropriately to achieve an optimal solution.
  • Knowledge of trade regulations and concepts (duty drawback, tariff regulations, international shipping documentation, etc.)
  • Strong analytical skills and adaptable with the ability to work in an ever-changing environment.
  • Intermediate or higher-level proficiency with Microsoft Excel (e.g., queries, reporting, functions).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
  • Proficiency in Power Queries and/or data software.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and directs all activities related to Trade Compliance.
  • Supervises, trains, communicates job expectations, and provides day to day operational support to Trade Compliance staff.
  • Oversees collaboration with trade related partners which includes brokers, drawback partners, (CBP Customs and Border Patrol), etc.
  • Oversees broker performance and accountability.
  • Determines and manages tariff mitigation strategy which includes duty drawback, direct shipments, etc.
  • Creates and maintains policies and procedures regarding trade compliance and tariff handling.
  • Develops and maintains tools to track and report on tariffs, guiding tariff policies.
  • Oversee activities to research, advise, and maintain compliance with import and export trade regulations which includes HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) classification, free trade agreements, partner government agency compliance, CTPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism), and dangerous goods.
  • Works closely with supply chain management, sales, sales operations, finance and senior management to advise and support compliance efforts.
  • Support backup responsibilities for other Logistics staff.
  • Other job-related responsibilities and duties may be assigned.
