About The Position

Ensures that the Company’s export and import activities comply with all applicable trade laws and regulations. Provide trade compliance oversight, across departments, to ensure effective compliance controls have been implemented into procedures and work instructions. Provide trade compliance training. Has the authority to inquire into any aspect of a proposed export or import to verify its compliance with trade laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent education and experience with at least 10 years of business experience; 5 years of experience with export and/or import regulatory compliance
  • Experience and knowledge of ITAR/EAR rules and regulations as established by the US Government including anti-boycott regulations, sanctions administered by OFAC, Customs Regulations, and Foreign Trade Regulations; familiarity with customs requirements, export licensing, economic sanctions and arms embargos, re-export and re-transfer requirements
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret contracts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Proven ability to multi-task, manage multiple trade compliance activities, while being flexible to changing priorities
  • Ability to prioritize, meet critical deadlines and work in fast paced environment
  • Strong administrative skills: organization, time management, planning and problem solving
  • High level of motivation and sense of urgency

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment strongly preferred
  • Experience in trade compliance information systems is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to import/export regulations (customs laws, export controls, sanctions programs).
  • Responsible for interpreting, understanding and implementing most current trade laws and regulations
  • Review departmental trade compliance internal controls (including procedures, work instructions, forms, checklists, tools, etc.) to ensure all applicable trade laws and regulations are met to include audits
  • Provide input to engineering on product classifications
  • Ensure product classifications are valid in the ERP system
  • Understand how HTS and Schedule B codes are defined and assigned to the company’s products
  • Facilitate new hire and company-wide training as required in the Export Compliance Program
  • Review and approve export and/or import license or permit applications, as required
  • Prepare, review and approve technology control plans, and provide technology transfer oversight
  • Ensure the 3rd party screening tools are used, reviewed and actioned
  • Analyze transactions for which due diligence indicates potential risk and determine whether due diligence has been satisfied
  • Review and interpret trade compliance contract requirements flow-downs to ensure the company’s compliance
  • Prepare and verify export shipping documentation for ad-hoc and other non-routine shipments, as required
  • Advise senior management about trade compliance aspects and risks of proposed business decisions
  • Other duties may be assigned.
