About The Position

Amazon is seeking a Trade Compliance Program Manager with expertise in US tariffs to build the technical infrastructure that powers Amazon's global trade operations. This role is integral to scaling Amazon's supply chain strategy by partnering with technology teams to create systems that enable intelligent business planning decisions across duty, tariff, and optimization topics. You will help train the brain of Amazon's core trade infrastructure. This role impacts several business units across Amazon's North America operations, requiring deep collaboration with diverse stakeholders to deliver unified trade technology solutions. You'll work closely with engineers to define system requirements, review technical designs, and validate that trade logic is correctly implemented. You'll translate regulatory complexity into clear technical specifications, partner with data scientists on optimization algorithms, and ensure Amazon's trade systems can support sophisticated business planning decisions. You're building the intelligence layer that powers Amazon's global supply chain. This position reports is part of the Global Trade Services (GTS) function. GTS is responsible for providing global trade and product compliance support for Amazon businesses, creating efficient processes that meet demanding cross border regulations, while minimizing impact to the business.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Experience handling confidential information

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of program requirements definition and data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements experience
  • Experience with SQL and Excel

Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineering and business intelligence teams to design and build scalable trade technology systems
  • Translate complex tariff regulations and customs requirements into technical specifications, data schemas, and algorithmic logic that power Amazon's trade intelligence systems
  • Define requirements for tariff classification, duty calculation, and optimization tools that support business planning at scale
  • Create data models and business rules that enable automated decision-making across Amazon's supply chain
  • Build the technical foundation that allows Amazon to evaluate trade-offs, model scenarios, and optimize supply chain strategies
  • Lead tariff classification and duty optimization programs across Amazon's diverse product portfolio
  • Design scalable duty calculation frameworks that integrate into planning and decision-making systems
  • Identify and implement duty savings opportunities through technology-enabled solutions
  • Partner with customs brokers to translate operational requirements into technical specifications
  • Translate complex customs regulations into system requirements and business rules that can be consumed by automated systems and machine learning algorithms
  • Ensure compliance logic is embedded into Amazon's trade technology infrastructure
  • Monitor and interpret changes to US tariff policy and update systems accordingly
  • Design controls and audits that validate compliance through automated testing
  • Build governance frameworks for trade data quality, classification accuracy, and system performance
  • Develop metrics and KPIs to measure system effectiveness and business impact
  • Create flexible solutions that adapt to evolving trade policies, business models, and supply chain strategies
  • Drive the roadmap for trade technology capabilities that unlock new supply chain opportunities
  • Partner with technology teams to architect solutions that scale with Amazon's growth
  • Collaborate with supply chain, finance, and product teams to understand planning needs and translate them into technical requirements
  • Work with legal and public policy teams to ensure regulatory compliance is built into systems
  • Mentor and develop team members on trade compliance, program management, and technical solution design
  • Present trade technology strategies, system designs, and roadmaps to senior leadership
  • Articulate how technical solutions enable business planning and supply chain optimization
  • Drive consensus on technical priorities and trade-offs across diverse stakeholders
  • Communicate the business value of trade infrastructure investments
