About The Position

In this role, you will be pivotal in overseeing trade compliance for business units, ensuring that all imports and exports meet regulatory standards. You will drive compliance best practices while collaborating with functional leaders to enhance operational effectiveness. Your expertise will be essential in developing processes for continuous improvement and supporting daily trade compliance activities. Additionally, you will support audits and maintain proper records to ensure a seamless trade operation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in trade compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of Customs regulations and international trade laws.
  • Proficiency in internal audits and compliance methodologies.
  • Experience with customs entry and export/import processes and software.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Technical aptitude manipulating data using various software systems.
  • Understanding of Canada Border Services Agency operational requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Support business needs relating to CARM and SWI initiatives.
  • Manage process of qualifying finished goods and components to various free trade agreements.
  • Support audits conducted by government agencies related to import and export activities.
  • Assist with authoring and maintaining Import and Export Compliance Manual.
  • Collaborate with brokers to file post summary corrections with the Canadian Border Service Agency.
  • Drive strategic trade compliance program efficiency, including risk assessment and management.
  • Ensure accurate and complete recordkeeping of all trade transactions.
  • Conduct compliance audits of day-to-day trade activities and documentation.
  • Produce compliance training materials and conduct training for internal stakeholders.
  • Respond to and assist with problems concerning import or export transactions.
