About The Position

HID Global is seeking a Global Trade Analyst based in Austin, Texas, to support compliant and consistent global trade operations. This role focuses on accurate tariff classification, including assigning and maintaining HS, ECCN, and COO codes, and ensuring trade and manufacturing activities meet regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or Business Administration in Engineering or Supply Chain related field
  • At least 2–4 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or trade compliance, ideally within a manufacturing setting
  • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) certification is preferred, but not required
  • Familiarity with HS classification, export control, country of origin rules, and free trade agreement (FTA) qualification
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications, including exposure to RF systems and encryption technologies
  • Basic understanding of trade regulations, tariffs, and customs procedures, with a willingness to grow expertise in global compliance
  • Proactive and curious mindset with emerging problem-solving skills and a desire to contribute to process improvements
  • Motivated and dependable, with a strong commitment to learning and delivering quality work
  • Clear communicator with experience supporting cross-functional teams in collaborative environments
  • Well-organized and analytical, with strong planning and communication skills and a proactive, detail-oriented approach

Responsibilities

  • Determining product classifications in accordance with the World Customs Organization’s (WCO) Harmonized System (HS), utilizing the General Rules of Interpretation (GRIs), Binding Rulings and other established customs guidelines
  • Applying export control regulations, including the US Export Administration Regulations (EAR), to determine the appropriate Export Control Classification Number (ECCN)
  • Maintaining and updating product classifications and detailed supporting notes in ERP and supporting systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Validating and supporting claims under trade programs such as USMCA or other Free Trade Agreement programs
  • Conducting country of origin assessments in accordance with country-specific rules of origin, applying methodologies such as substantial transformation, tariff shift and RVC
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Product Managers and Procurement, to gather necessary information and documentation for accurate classification
  • Determining licensing requirements for export-controlled goods; preparing and submitting export license applications using the SNAP-R portal
  • Administering internal audit processes for accurate classifications and import entries
  • Responding to classification inquiries from customs brokers, government agencies, internal customers, external customers, and vendors for international shipments
  • Monitoring and resolving import shipment issues by working with internal teams and customs broker
  • Continuously evaluating and improving processes and procedures to streamline and enhance trade compliance efforts
  • Staying updated on changes in trade classifications and communicating any potential impact to the company
