About The Position

Gerald Metals is seeking a Trade Accountant to join the Accounting team in Stamford, CT. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting related to trading activities, particularly in commodities and hedge funds. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, experience with IFRS standards, and excellent analytical and communication skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • A minimum of 3-5 years' experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a strong proficiency in Excel
  • Previous accounting experience in commodities, hedge fund, and/or commodity brokerage firms
  • Ability to use modern, multi-currency accounting software package
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Ability to identify and analyze problems and provide solutions within timelines
  • Ability to work on-site 5 days a week

Responsibilities

  • Monthly reconciliation of Risk/Trading system profit and loss to general ledger
  • Perform analysis to ensure accuracy of gross margin
  • Prepare and book journal entries impacting the gross margin; identify and reconcile discrepancies that impact the gross margin
  • Prepare and allocate cost of cash usage by department/portfolio
  • Analyze, ensure accuracy, and prepare reconciliation of trade accruals, inventory, and other accounts
  • Understand and report profit and loss and mark to market attributes and movements
  • Evaluate specific business transactions for proper accounting treatment
  • Validate market valuation
  • Monitor and ensure compliance of control policies and procedures
  • Assist in the management of the preparation of the Consolidated Financial statements and reporting to external and internal parties under IFRS
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual and quarterly reporting on a global basis
  • Assist in the annual external audit
  • Field and respond to inquiries from management, traders, and external auditors
  • Other duties as assigned
