Tractor Trailer Driver - Department of Public Works
About The Position
A Tractor Trailer Driver drives gasoline-powered or diesel-powered tractor trailers. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities. Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional work week, which may require some evening, weekend, holiday or callback duty. Work is performed in vehicles where inclement weather, poor driving conditions, traffic and equipment hazards, odors or toxic chemicals are encountered. Work requires moderate physical exertion.
Requirements
- EDUCATION: Have three years of experience in the operation of a tractor trailer or earth moving logging, highway or utility maintenance equipment.
- LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATES: Have a valid Maryland Class A Commercial driver's license, or an equivalent out-of-state driver's license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management is required.
Responsibilities
- Skill in the safe operation of a tractor trailer.
- Skill in the safe operation of heavy equipment such as bulldozers, backhoes, cranes, track loaders, front-end loaders, large tow trucks, tandem dump trucks or other similar equipment.
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance checks.
- Ability to follow directions.
