About The Position

The Tractor and Jockey Truck driver shall operate in the functions of transporting material under plant policies and procedures. He/she will ensure a safe and compliant operation during his/her shift. Working Conditions: Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment; hot when weather is hot and cold when weather is cold. Greasy, dirty and noisy environment.  Work involves lifting, pulling and/or pushing of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Standing and walking considerable distances. Operation requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.

Requirements

  • Basic English reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
  • Manual dexterity required for operating, machinery.
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and Jockey Truck operation experience.
  • Must be able to work with a flexible or rotating schedule which may require over-time and weekends when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect the vehicles to ensure that equipment is in good working conditions.
  • Load and unload trucks per BPU policies and procedures.
  • Driving tractor with capacities below 15 tons for tractor driver, including tractor-trailer combinations, to transport and deliver products.
  • Driving the Jockey Truck capacity of 45,000 lbs to transport and deliver products.
  • Inspect the conditions of trailers after contents have been unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage.
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs as needed.
  • Maneuver trucks and/or tractor into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
  • Secure cargo for transport using straps and four-foot pipe stakes, at least two pipe stakes on each side.
  • Employee must follow all PPE policies and safety rules.
  • Employee must report to SRM and Yard and S&R Supervisor for briefing on daily tasks.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices in the work area and keep it free and clear of debris.
  • Perform 5 racks verification daily.
  • Complete the PIT checklist daily.
  • Other duties as assigned.
