About The Position

Join BNSF Railway as a Track Maintenance Laborer in Brush, Colorado, where you will be part of a team that values safety, diversity, and excellence. As a member of our Track Maintenance Team, you will play a vital role in constructing, inspecting, and repairing tracks and other railroad assets, maintaining our railway corridors. This full-time position requires on-call availability, overtime, and the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays. You will be required to travel to job sites for extended periods, sometimes for days or weeks at a time. Training for this position is company-paid and includes on-the-job and classroom training at the BNSF Training Center.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work in the US without company sponsorship.
  • At least 18 years of age by the anticipated start date.
  • Possess a valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Ability to report for duty at the designated work location.
  • Able to work safely in the specified working conditions.
  • Able to work the required shifts and hours.
  • Able to meet travel requirements and remain on job sites for extended periods.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs occasionally.
  • Able to visually distinguish colors and discriminate between verbal and non-verbal sounds.
  • Able to use hands for activities involving holding, grasping, turning, and pulling.
  • Occasionally climb on/off equipment and perform physical activities such as bending, walking, standing, and sitting.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in track maintenance or related field.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations in a railroad environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform track maintenance repair and installation, including pulling spikes, cutting, welding, or drilling rail.
  • Maintain a clean right of way by removing hazards such as brush, trees, vegetation, litter, and cargo spillage.
  • Manually compress ballast, remove/install ties, and replace, cut, and adjust rail.
  • Lift and carry materials with assistance.
  • Operate power hand tools such as electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic tools, as well as non-powered hand tools.
  • Conduct daily work in a safety-sensitive environment under diverse and extreme weather conditions.
  • Engage in daily safety conversations and adhere to safety regulations, rules, and policies.
