About The Position

The Track Maintenance Crew Member position in Hibbing, MN, is essential for supporting various construction and maintenance projects within the region. This role involves performing a variety of physical tasks that contribute to the successful completion of projects on time and within budget. The Track Maintenance Crew Member will work closely with skilled tradespeople and supervisors to ensure that all work is carried out safely and efficiently. The major end result of this position is to maintain a high standard of quality in all tasks while adhering to safety regulations and protocols. Ultimately, the position will play a crucial role in the overall productivity and success of the team and projects undertaken.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to perform physical labor and lift heavy objects.
• Basic understanding of safety practices in a construction environment.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in railroad or related field.
• Experience with tools and machines, including their design, uses, repair and maintenance.
• Ability to follow verbally issued instructions.
• Ability to read and understand specific instructions and work specifications.
• Ability to understand and follow safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Ability to work as a team, to jointly carry out assigned tasks.
• Travel required 25 + %.
• Will perform work on Northern Plains Railroad as directed.
• GED or higher.
• Must have and maintain an insurable driving status which includes but is not limited to NPRS driver provisions.
• Pass a mandatory drug test to maintain a drug-free workplace. Random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident testing may also be required throughout employment.
• Undergo a thorough physical examination to ensure the requirements of the position can be met.
• Provide professional references to validate qualifications and character.
• Complete a comprehensive background check to confirm suitability for the position.

• Install and Repair railroad track at specified project sites or on railroad property.
• Utilize and become proficient with the use of hand and power tools specific to railroad repair, maintenance, and construction.
