About The Position

The Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center at Gallaudet University is a federally funded center with exemplary elementary and secondary education programs for deaf and hard of hearing students and is tasked with developing and disseminating innovative curricula, instructional techniques, and products nationwide while providing information, training, and technical assistance for parents and professionals to meet the needs of deaf and hard of hearing students from birth to age 21. Assistant Coach’s primary responsibility is to assist/provide support to the Track and Field Head Coach with the development and implementation of an exemplary athletic program that will effectively provide the best possible education for each student-athlete.

Requirements

  • Fluency in American Sign Language required
  • All employees hired must undergo and pay for a background investigation if selected for the job and must be cleared before starting first day on the job.
  • Reports from Background Check and Gallaudet Conduct & Security Office must be in a good standing

Nice To Haves

  • Coaching Experience - preferred (significant playing experience may be considered)
  • Knowledge & Experience in Track and Field
  • Knowledge and Understanding of Middle School Aged Students
