Job Title: Full-Time Therapeutic Recreation (TR) Assistant (Life Enrichment) Location: Allentown (Operated by County of Lehigh) Compensation: Base Pay: $22.87/hour after 3p shift differential $2.00/hour Weekend Differential: $2.00/hr extra on weekends

  • Develop and implement therapeutic recreation programs tailored to long-term care residents.
  • Set up, adjust, and maintain activity equipment and supplies.
  • Lead group and individual resident activities; bring programming to room-bound residents as needed.
  • Observe resident participation and response; document progress and report findings to supervisory staff.
  • Maintain accurate records, charts, and reports related to activities and resident engagement.
  • Demonstrate therapeutic activities; assist with training, guiding, and overseeing volunteers.
  • Support residents with activity-related needs and offer solutions for individualized challenges.
  • Transport residents to and from activity areas.
  • Prepare rooms and equipment for programs; assist with inventory management.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Understanding of therapeutic recreation principles, goals, and practices in long-term care.
  • Knowledge of activity programming methods, resident engagement techniques, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Awareness of physical, mental, emotional, and social factors affecting geriatric residents.
  • Familiarity with regulations governing therapeutic recreation in nursing facilities.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and review work performed by volunteers and support personnel.
  • Skill in assessing resident needs and documenting progress.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with residents, staff, families, and community partners.
  • Strong ability to maintain thorough and accurate activity records.
  • Candidates must meet at least ONE of the following:
  • At least 5 years of substantiated experience working in:
  • Long-term Care Activities,
  • Therapeutic Recreation, or
  • Life Enrichment Department.
  • OR
  • A BS in Therapeutic Recreation.
  • OR
  • A valid therapeutic recreation or activities certification (A.D.C. or A.P.C. through NCCAP).
