About The Position

The Seasonal Maintenance Specialist I (Operations Ranger) position at the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department involves performing entry-level maintenance and construction work under the supervision of the Regional Maintenance Specialist. The role is focused on maintaining facilities, buildings, vehicles, and grounds, while also providing visitor services at The Nature Center. Requirements

• Completion of the 8th grade.
• Experience in facility, equipment, or grounds maintenance.
• Must possess a valid State driver's license.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of general facility, building, and grounds repair and cleaning techniques.
• Knowledge of landscaping and grounds maintenance techniques.
• Knowledge of natural and cultural resources.
• Knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, masonry, janitorial, and mechanical maintenance and repair tasks.
• Skill in using MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Perform entry-level building maintenance and construction work.
• Responsible for operations, maintenance, and visitor services for The Nature Center.
• Conduct routine preventative maintenance on restrooms, buildings, facilities, and grounds.
• Assist with visitor services including customer service, fee collection, and public relations.
• Operate various types of equipment including hand and power tools, mowers, trimmers, and tractors.
• Comply with all Agency, Division, and Branch rules, regulations, and procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
