Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Commander of Wildlife Enforcement, this position is responsible for performing wildlife, conservation, and natural resources enforcement work including, assisting with statewide wildlife enforcement program administration and directing the Operation Game Thief (OGT) program. Serves as a liaison with the public, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) employees (including both field and senior staff), elected officials including the Texas Legislature, non-government organizations, and government agencies and organizations, to maintain statewide wildlife enforcement consistency. Works closely with TPWD interdivisional staff to maintain consistency and enforceability in development of statutes, regulations, policy and procedures for wildlife enforcement. Serves as Texas' administrator for the Interstate Wildlife Violator Compact (IWVC) database. Participates, in conjunction with department and OGT staffs, in coordinating OGT marketing and fundraising events and assists in the oversight of financial aspects including, record keeping, banking, purchasing, and reward payments for the OGT program. Interacts with Executive Director appointed OGT committee and independent contractor(s), providing guidance regarding departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the oversight of volunteers and the Wildlife Enforcement Administrative Assistant along with direct supervision of the OGT Program Specialist. Assists with staffing of the State Operations Center as needed. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.
