The Toxicology Biochemical Genetics Analyst is responsible for the performance of highly complex forensic toxicology, medical toxicology, biochemical genetics, special chemistry and endocrinology laboratory procedures with minimum supervision. Analyst also performs routine tests and analyses evidence using a variety of sensitive, analytical laboratory equipment. Toxicological and biochemical laboratory tests are performed in an accurate and timely manner. Professional judgment is exercised to ascertain the appropriateness of the test orders, the validity of test results and to communicate this information to the physician or patient care provider. Maintains equipment and assures integrity of data by calibrating and cleaning equipment, changing parts, and analyzing controls and test mixes.

  • Performs highly complex forensic toxicology, medical toxicology, biochemical genetics, special chemistry and endocrinology laboratory procedures with minimum supervision.
  • Performs routine tests and analyses of body fluids, tissue, or forensic evidence using a variety of sensitive, analytical laboratory equipment.
  • Performs continuous quality assurance activities, including evaluating specimens for acceptability, performing quality control testing procedures and evaluating data, and taking necessary actions to correct identified problems.
  • Bachelor's Degree in related Physical Science and 1-2 years experience in a lab setting preferred, but other related experience accepted.
  • National Registry of Certified Chemists-NRCC eligible or Preferred.
  • MLS - ASCP Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist - ASCP or Preferred.
