About The Position

The Tower Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of wireless tower site electronics and hardware. This role involves climbing and working on communications towers, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and performing inspections to guarantee optimal performance of telecommunications equipment. The technician will also document safety analyses and work progress, while adhering to strict safety guidelines and weight limits.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Working knowledge of basic hand tools, mechanical equipment, and electro-mechanical equipment.
• Must have a valid driver's license with a safe/acceptable driving record in compliance with company policy.
• Must pass a drug screening test and a criminal background check.
• Comfortable and recent experience working outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Complete and maintain the tower safety and rescue training program.
• Climb and work on communications towers to install, replace, and repair antenna systems equipment.
• Perform tower maintenance and inspect completed work for quality assurance.
• Run appropriate power, ground, fiber, Cat5e, and/or coaxial cables.
• Check antenna positioning and adjust as necessary to ensure specified azimuths or mechanical tilts.
• Inspect telecommunications equipment to identify and resolve problems.
• Document Job Safety Analysis (JSA) before each tower climb and after job completion.
• Transport equipment to work sites using utility trucks and equipment trailers.
• Lift equipment into position safely using rigging tools or equipment such as capstan hoist.
• Complete reports related to outages, project status, and other work details.
