About The Position

You will join a growing company looking to continue our growth through the addition of a highly motivated individual with experience as a Tower Climber. The Tower Climber position is responsible for climbing cellular and radio towers to perform maintenance, tests and inspections. This position configures and troubleshoots broadband and narrowband radios using basic wireless design principles. The Tower Climber must ensure all job safety policies are adhered to at all times; including all Fall Safety procedures and 100% tie-off commitment. Responsibilities

  • Lead work on tower ensuring that a quality installation has been performed including rigging, hoisting, landing, fastening, load-hopping, etc
  • Installation of up-top equipment including masts, clamping, bracing, supports, antennas, RRU’s, cabling, bolting, trueing up, shooting proper azimuth within tolerances, reading maps and compass, torquing to spec, labeling, picture-taking, documentation, plumb and tilt readings with smart level, etc
  • Perform Waveguide, coax, fiber, lines, and hybrid cable installation, connector installation, sweep and testing assisting, weatherproofing, color-coding, labeling, connect coax feedlines and jumpers per piping diagrams, and support and fasten adequately for a quality, lasting installation
  • Do grounding, terminations, fastening, proper bolting and antioxidant use, support of leads, cadwelding as required
  • Assist on overall job on groundwork including all tasks required to build and install a site per customer specs
  • Ensure safety and quality control requirements at sites and with crew maintaining a safe and efficient work environment
  • Maintain daily paperwork and compile all site-specific closeout documentation for work effort
  • Installs, maintains, repairs, removes, or retrofits antenna systems equipment and power systems (e.g. antennas, microwave dishes, feedlines, ice shields, etc.), sometimes under adverse conditions (e.g., high towers, inclement weather, remote sites, etc.) to maintain operational communications throughout the nation using safety equipment and hand, power, and specialty tools.
  • Responds to 24-hour calls for assistance to provide emergency support to return antenna systems to operational mode during off-duty hours.
  • Ability to analyze remote communications sites to determine best location and proper placement for installation of new antenna systems equipment using section documentation, manufacturers' documents, and specialized equipment.
  • Interprets various documents (e.g. blueprints, diagrams, manufacturer specifications, etc.) to ensure proper installation of antenna systems using technical expertise, and knowledge of blueprints and diagrams.
  • Prepare, inspects, and load parts and supplies for various jobs in truck and/or trailer prior to leaving for work destination throughout the United States.
  • Proactively communicate any issue on the towers and/or antenna systems that is a hazard or service threatening to ensure continuance of communication systems.
  • Develops and conducts training of less experienced co-workers to assure quality work, safety and proper use of tools, equipment, and materials, and to demonstrate safety or technical job requirements using knowledge of principles and techniques of staff development and oral presentation skills.
  • Understands the proper care and use of personal protective gear (e.g. hard hat, climbing belt, boots, FR clothing, etc.).
  • Understands the principles and procedures involved with inspection of physical structures.
