About The Position
The Northern Texas PGA (NTPGA) is offering an 18-week full-time internship in golf tournament operations for the Spring of 2025. This internship is designed for individuals who are passionate about golf and event management, providing a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the operations of professional and junior golf tournaments. Interns will be involved in the day-to-day operations of the Section's tournament programs, which include a variety of events for junior golfers aged 7-19 and professional tournaments such as the Section Major Championships and PGA TOUR Qualifying tournaments. Interns will be responsible for executing pre-tournament operations, which include collecting tournament information, marking the golf course, selecting hole locations, setting up equipment, and developing operational plans. On-site responsibilities will involve player registration, starting, officiating rules, scoring, and presenting awards. After the tournaments, interns will complete post-tournament tasks such as organizing and submitting reports, distributing results, and tearing down equipment. Effective communication with host professional staff, junior golfers, parents, caddies, and spectators is essential throughout the process. The internship requires extensive travel throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, as interns will assist in conducting approximately 25-30 Junior Tour tournaments. Interns can expect to work 35-40 hours per week, including most weekends, with days off during the week to accommodate this schedule. Additional hours may be available for those seeking school credit. This position is ideal for students pursuing a degree in sports management or a related field, providing valuable experience in the golf industry.
