Job Purpose: The Touch Up Rework/Hand Solder assembler is responsible for assembling and soldering electronic components onto circuit boards and other electrical equipment, ensuring quality standards are met. This role also involves inspecting finished products, identifying defects, and performing rework or repairs as needed.

Requirements

  • Soldering Skills: Proficient in hand soldering and de-soldering techniques.
  • Component Identification: Ability to identify various electronic components.
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret schematics and assembly drawings.
  • Manual Dexterity: Excellent hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
  • Quality Focus: Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • 3-5 years experience in electronics assembly and soldering is preferred.
  • May require the ability to work under a microscope.
  • May need to be familiar with ESD (electrostatic discharge) procedures.
  • May require the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble electronic components onto circuit boards and other electrical equipment according to provided specifications, schematics, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • Perform soldering tasks using appropriate techniques and equipment to create reliable connections that meet quality standards.
  • Carefully inspect finished products to identify any soldering defects, missing components, or other quality issues.
  • Determine if rework or repairs are necessary and perform those tasks to ensure the product meets quality standards.
  • Work from schematics, blueprints, and written or verbal instructions to repair, rework, or modify assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components.
  • Use various tools and techniques to perform rework and repair tasks, ensuring the final product meets specifications.
  • Utilize microscopes, magnifying lamps, and other inspection tools to identify subtle defects.
  • Perform expert-level hand soldering and de-soldering using a variety of soldering irons, hot air stations, and other specialized tools.
