About The Position

Join the Sensing Systems team at Apple to design, develop, and launch next-generation Touch ID sensors, ensuring the security and convenience of Apple products. This role focuses on defining electrical architecture, driving technology development, and integrating sensor solutions into Apple's innovative ecosystem. Imagine crafting solutions the world doesn't know of yet! The Sensing Systems team integrates MEMS, magnetic, and capacitive sensors across a variety of Apple products such as iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks. We bring devices to life, enabling them to interact with users and the environment in ways never imagined before. The Touch ID team develops sensors that are central to the security and convenience of Apple products. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sensor Architect to play a key role in the development and integration of next-generation Touch ID technologies. As a Sensor Architect, you will be responsible for defining electrical architecture requirements, identifying technical de-risk paths, and leading prototyping efforts. You will collaborate closely with silicon teams, defining silicon-level requirements for sensor integration into systems. You will also be involved in the physical sensor development, including running simulations, performing schematic capture, module and flex design, leading multi-functional integration discussions and coexistence assessments, and validating the module design and features throughout the supply chain.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering (or related field).
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong EE fundamentals with demonstrated experience in all phases of circuit design and development.
  • Experience with silicon development, packaging, process definition, and requirement validation.
  • Proficiency in circuit design and layout.
  • Experience with test equipment (oscilloscope, meters, etc.) and circuit simulation (SPICE).
  • Experience creating engineering design, requirement, and specification documents.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and Python scripting tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with biometric sensors, firmware, and algorithms.
  • Experience in FEA, simulation, and modeling tools (Comsol, ANSYS, Maxwell).
  • Experience with statistical analysis of production data (JMP, Tableau).
  • Experience with high-volume mass production.

Responsibilities
