About The Position

The Total Rewards/Compensation & Benefits Sr. Director has full responsibility for the execution and implementation of the company's Total Rewards/Compensation & Benefits strategies to attract, engage and retain Rigel's workforce. This position is based on site at Rigel's headquarters in South San Francisco. This individual will be responsible for developing programs and policies to align with the corporate business and compensation strategy, maintaining and/or enhancing the company's competitive market position as it relates to positions, leveling and pay practices. In addition, this position is responsible for leading the development of a sustainable and scalable employee data infrastructure through the deployment and use of the company's tools, resources, and HR Information System, including web-based and mobile tools for managers and employees, and the management of accurate employee-related data.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant course of study.
  • At least ten (10) years of hands-on experience in Total Rewards function.
  • Proven track record of leading and managing a Total Rewards/Compensation & Benefits program within a publicly traded company.
  • Strong executive presence and experience interacting with and influencing stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction around compensation and benefit programs to ensure competitiveness.
  • Recommend and participate in relevant surveys, prepare competitive benchmarking analysis, and perform annual incumbent analysis.
  • Manage and administer all compensation activities including new hire, transfer and promotion offers, annual compensation review process, corporate incentive plan and field incentive plans.
  • Manage and administer all health and welfare plans, retirement plans, and wellness programs, including annual renewal process.
  • Design a robust evaluation methodology for position evaluation and levelling.
  • Ensure accurate job descriptions are available and maintained for all positions.
  • Collaborate with HR team and line management to provide sound judgment and counsel on annual and mid-year compensation, promotions, benefits, and leave of absence issues and practices.
  • Design, coordinate, and implement annual and ongoing employee communications and programs to ensure employees understand their total rewards package.
  • Lead and execute HR systems projects to ensure efficient processes and to minimize redundancy in workload.
  • Support SVP, HR, and leadership to collaborate cross-functionally with Legal and Finance to ensure proper management of the Compensation Committee governance process.
  • Responsible for 401K program administration, including non-discrimination testing process.
  • Ensure compliance with worker's compensation program and leave administration.
  • Design and develop quarterly workforce analytics reports for HR and Executive Committee.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and exit interviews.
  • Ensure compliance across various labor and employment areas including EEO, AAP, FLSA, ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, etc.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of legislation, as well as market trends impacting compensation and benefits programs.
  • Manage focus area with emphasis on maintaining and driving effective internal controls (SOX 404 Compliance).

Benefits

  • Salary Range: National $255,000 - $285,000; Premium (CA, NY) $280,000 - $320,000
