About The Position

Dates of assignment: 2026-2027 school year (annual appointment) QUALIFICATIONS: A valid New York State Elementary (grades K-6) teaching certification; extensive training in mathematics preferred Demonstrated successful classroom experience as a tenured teacher with a minimum of 5 years in grades K-6 Preferred successful experience as an instructional coach ESSENTIAL CORE CHARACTERISTICS: Demonstrated evidence of a deep level of understanding of elementary mathematics; the Thoughtful Classroom Teacher Effectiveness Framework or other State-approved teacher evaluation rubrics; research and instructional best practices and thorough familiarity with the District curriculum and instructional practices across grade levels that best meet students’ needs. Demonstrated continuous professional growth and evidence of being a life-long learner Demonstrated experience facilitating adult learning to support the achievement of District and program goals Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and work effectively with staff members, colleagues, parents, and others stakeholders in the educational community; embed the skills and strategies necessary to facilitate adult learning, use creative problem solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills to provide a positive learning environment that results in continuous improvement for students and staff; use written and oral communication appropriately and effectively; evaluate each unique engagement and interaction with stakeholders and determine appropriate responses and solutions. Demonstrated evidence of exceptional effective classroom management and student engagement skills Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with peers and supervisors Demonstrated evidence of a proven ability to effectively manage time, plan, and organize ESSENTIAL CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide training, assistance, and ongoing professional development to teachers, administrators, and other School and District stakeholders relative to the implementation of the District’s math program; Assist instructional staff with implementing and enhancing the District’s curriculum and programs; Plan and design lessons (and/or units of study) by collaboratively working with teachers in various settings including one-on-one, small groups, grade level meetings, study groups, workshops, and faculty/staff meetings; Contribute to and support a District-wide effort to further develop a reflective learning community that engages in research-based, high-yield instructional practices; Serve as a resource to classroom, special area teachers, and staff who support students; Assist in the gathering and analysis of data to identify student-focused goal(s) based on areas of need; Debrief and provide feedback on instruction/student learning to facilitate teacher reflection and to identify/set goals and next steps; Build the capacity of teachers to support and facilitate the learning of their colleagues; Facilitate parent information sessions and/or develop parent resources; Reflect on coaching work and identify areas of need, growth, and success; Demonstrate a commitment to personal growth through participation in professional learning; Collaborate with building and district administration; Attend required trainings; Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as directed by the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and the Director of Mathematics and Computer Science. REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent for Instruction SALARY: $47,200-$53,700 Per WTA Contract Additionally, 1/200 for up to 10 days between last student day and first student day. Other days and/or additional time as determined by the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction. This is a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) position. WORK CALENDAR: The teacher work year plus up to ten days.
