The Topeka Distribution Center is seeking a dedicated Sanitation Worker to join our team on a part-time basis, specifically working Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. This role is crucial in maintaining the sanitation levels within and around our facilities, adhering to the high standards and procedures set by the company. The Sanitation Worker will be responsible for ensuring that all areas of the warehouse are clean, safe, and compliant with health and safety regulations. This position requires a proactive approach to cleanliness and safety, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The Sanitation Worker will utilize various cleaning tools and equipment, including hand brooms and a sweeper/scrubber machine, to keep the warehouse free of debris and maintain a clean working environment. Responsibilities include cleaning all loose debris from the floor and travel areas immediately, ensuring that all trash cans are emptied and cleaned, and maintaining the cleanliness of break rooms, restrooms, and work areas. Additionally, the worker will be responsible for ensuring that pest control systems are functioning effectively by promptly removing any damaged products. Daily and weekly clean-up of the entire warehouse floor area is essential, as is the removal of ice and snow from pedestrian walkways and doorways. The Sanitation Worker will also be tasked with keeping the grounds free from litter and debris, inspecting fire extinguishers routinely, and documenting results on the fire extinguisher tag. Obtaining a JM Smucker Forklift license and demonstrating safe operation of the forklift or other powered material handling equipment is also a requirement of this position. The worker must maintain cleanliness in the forklift battery area and report any maintenance or safety issues to a shift supervisor in a timely manner. Compliance with OSHA and other relevant standards is mandatory, and the use of proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required for all job tasks and areas. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
