About The Position

Bituminous Roadways (BR) is a growing, award-winning, and established union highway/heavy contractor looking for a Utility Top Person to join our team. A Utility Top Person is responsible for cutting and preparing pipes and fittings for installation. Our main office is located in Mendota Heights, MN. BR also has plant locations in Inver Grove Heights, Shakopee, and Columbus.

Requirements

• High school education and/or GED equivalent
• At least 2 years of relevant experience is preferred
• Ability to work independently with little to no supervision
• Know and understand grades and slopes
• Excavation and trench safety
• Confined space safety
• Experience using basic hand and power tools
• Strong communication skills
• Punctual and dependable
• Ability to work overtime as needed is required

Responsibilities

• Shoveling and staking
• Plan reading
• Laser setup
• Ensuring proper pipe installation
• Assembling valves and other parts to be lowered into the excavation
• Rigging of pipe sections to be lowered into the trench
• Maintaining water pumps
• Observing the excavation for safety hazards and concerns
