About The Position

As the Mechanic, you will perform general mechanic maintenance activities in a chemical production plant atmosphere to keep the production units and supporting facilities in the utmost reliable working condition. The Mechanic is expected to use sound judgment and broad-based mechanical knowledge to make decisions and repairs that will contribute to the overall plant efficiency, objectives, and policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid and current certification(s) in welding, electrical and/or instrumentation, plus 2+ years of Industrial, commercial, chemical manufacturing maintenance experience or combination of education and experience, preferred.
  • Certification or degree from accredited technical school in Manufacturing Technologies, Maintenance Technician certificate, or equivalent, preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in an industrial or chemical manufacturing environment (Chemical manufacturing preferred).
  • 2-5 years of progressive experience in maintenance or chemical operations preferred.
  • Read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, sketches and plans.
  • Knowledgeable and proficient in interpreting specifications, drawings, and instructions to assist in the replacement, troubleshooting, repair, alignment, etc. of mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Experience with rotating and compression equipment is preferred.
  • Understanding of basic mechanical and/or chemical concepts and safety.
  • Strong environmental, health, and safety (EHS) cultural awareness.
  • Ability to regularly move and/or lift up to 100lbs (frequency for 100lb lifting requirement is occasional), wear appropriate PPE, and climb stairs and/or ladders.
  • Willing and able to pivot to complete different tasks throughout the day.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Effective communication skills both oral and written.
  • Able to work a shift schedule and occasional overtime, when needed.
  • Successful candidate must be able to work with controlled technology in accordance with US export control laws and regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with rotating and compression equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work in compliance with chemical plant and specific area safety regulations including wearing/using all Personal Protective Equipment such as FR clothing, hard hat safety glasses, chemical protective clothing, full face respirators, SCBA, etc.
  • Install, troubleshoot and repair various types of mechanical equipment including, but not limited to pumps, valves, compressors, reactors, tanks, heat exchangers, miscellaneous rotating equipment, etc.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Replace, align, and repair industrial mechanical and electrical machinery and equipment.
