About The Position

The Tools and Parts Attendant position at Scott AFB, IL, involves managing the issuance, receipt, and scheduling of tools and equipment for patrons at the Auto Hobby Shop. Requirements

  • Experience with a wide variety of automotive tools and parts.
  • Knowledge of good workshop practices and inventory procedures.
  • Experience providing quality customer service to patrons.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and perform simple mathematical computations.
  • Ability to lift objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally handle objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work different shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Issues, receives, and schedules use of equipment, tools, and repair/paint stalls for patrons.
  • Uses a parts assignment system for accountability of assigned tools.
  • Determines the type of repair job and suggests necessary tools.
  • Provides instructions to customers on cleaning processes and disposal of soiled rags.
  • Ensures tools returned are clean and assesses for breakage or damage.
  • Operates cash register and accounts for cash using established procedures.
  • Maintains inventory control records of items issued and conducts minor maintenance on tools and equipment.
  • Accounts for the condition of tools upon return and organizes storage.
  • Develops display pegboards and maintains a clean work area.
  • May act as the primary or alternate equipment custodian.
