The Toolroom Machinist at our Baldwin, WI location involves performing the duties to provide tool fabrication support for new and existing product or new equipment used in production. This is a 1st shift onsite role, with hours from 5:00 am - 3:00 pm.

Requirements

  • Combination of education and experience, generally acquired through the attainment of a high school diploma or equivalent and prior experience reading prints, assembling products, one year welding.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate ability to: Machine Tool Certificate or Diploma
  • Ability to read blueprints, design customer, and supplier documents
  • Ability to work effectively with limited supervision.
  • Ability to set up and operate tool room equipment, production equipment, and tools.
  • Use precision measuring equipment to maintain close tolerances.
  • Ability to conceive and fabricate tooling for new and existing product.
  • Knowledge of material compositions and their uses.
  • Maintain and reflects a positive company attitude and be able to work independently.
  • Ability to work in a team environment toward a common goal.
  • Maintains a pattern of regular and predictable attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • Welding Certificate or 1000 hours of experience (preferred)
  • 3D modeling software, SolidWorks (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Work from drawings and non-formalized documentation, written and verbal instructions with a minimal amount of supervision.
  • Design & Fabricate production jigs and fixturing such as, assembly fixtures, machining fixtures, weld fixtures.
  • Fabricate new product models and prototypes for Development Engineering and provide design feedback in regard to manufacturability.
  • Perform tool reconditioning, tool maintenance, and tool preventative maintenance.
  • Revise existing tooling to improve product quality, improve production and reduce cost.
  • Instruct manufacturing personnel in the use of new jigs and fixtures.
  • Recommend design changes to improve production yields and manufacturability of new and existing products.
  • Initiate purchase requests for stock tool material and for tooling for new products and pilot projects.
  • Modify products as required to ensure proper assembly.
  • Assist and advise Manufacturing Engineering on routing of parts through the fabrication and machine shop area.
  • Responsible for maintaining work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Complies with all safety, DOT, HAZMAT and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned in order to fulfill Donaldson’s mission, vision and strategic plan objectives.
