Amca’s first toolmaker will work with engineers to develop tools and small run production parts that rapidly convert design ideas into prototypes.

  • Use in-depth familiarity of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to machine tools, molds, and initial prototype parts based on desired final part geometries.
  • Creatively machine, fabricate and assemble plastic molds, small-run machined parts, other tooling, and prototype aerospace parts.
  • Perform manual milling, turning, and EDM operations.
  • Go from concept/rough engineering sketches to completed prototype tools and parts as quickly as possible.
  • Provide design for manufacturability feedback on tool and part designs.
  • Apply creative solutions to perform spur of the moment design and machining adjustments to achieve desired part outcomes in a fast-moving environment.
  • Assist with machine selection, initial machine setup and activation, and routine maintenance.
  • 5+ years of experience in toolmaking.
  • 5+ years of experience in machining, with a focus on aerospace or high-precision components (preference to 5 axis experience).
  • Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, HyperMILL, or Esprit) and 3D CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Siemens NX).
  • Deep understanding of G-code, M-code, and CNC program editing.
  • Ability to use and learn a variety of software to observe, analyze, evaluate, and communicate pertinent information.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, blueprint interpretation, and tolerance stack-ups.
  • Hands-on experience with precision inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, CMMs).
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency to comply with ITAR regulations.
  • Preferred experience machining injection mold tooling, including wire and die sinking EDM.
