Requirements

  • Proficiency in the operation of manual mills, lathes and grinders.
  • Proficiency in Geometry, Trigonometry, basic Algebra, fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to select and use appropriate cutting tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to create work-holding fixtures and gauges for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Experience with basic machining principles including tooling types, speeds & feeds, threading, surface finish, and tool holding.
  • Familiarity with CAD software.
  • Ability to use micrometers, calipers, test indicators, and Cadillac gauge.
  • An understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics in fixtures.
  • Depending on Ruger campus location, a working knowledge of Heat Treat, materials.
  • Ability to use Prototrak/advanced conversational controllers-program mill, MasterCam, or CAM software.
  • Self-Motivated to work independently or with associates on the line to find solutions to problems.
  • Detail & quality oriented.
  • Communicate detailed or important information to others accurately.
  • Must be capable of prioritizing and time management while working under pressure with minimal amount of supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Support production through the use of manual equipment and independently solve problems.
  • Analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, fit and assemble parts to fabricate and repair metal-working dies, cutting tools, fixtures, gauges, and machine hand tools.
  • Create precision molds to support manufacturing using vertical milling centers, EDM centers, precision grinders, and 3-D printers.
