About The Position

The person hired for the position of a Machinist - Tooling Technician will be responsible for analyzing specifications, laying out metal stock, setting up and operating machine tools, and fitting and assembling parts to make and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools keeping production equipment in operational condition.

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• An Associate Degree is a plus
• Minimum three (3) + years of experience years of experience in the tool or molding trade
• This position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, as well as constant mobility on a daily basis. Additionally this position requires the ability to move within departments.
• This position requires the ability to review items closely and have color recognition.
• This position requires pushing, pulling, lifting, moving and/or carrying up to 75 pounds.
• This position requires the ability to twist and bend frequently.
• This position requires hand and finger dexterity.

Nice To Haves

• An Associate Degree is a plus
• Engel, Milacron, Nissei and or other machines, lathes, mills experience

Responsibilities

• Read and understand engineering tool and mold drawings and schematics
• Build and repair close tolerance tools and mold components
• Working knowledge of the heat treat process of tool steels
• Ability to operate band saws, drill press, CNC mills, manual lathes, and grinders
• Analyzes specifications, grind/fabricate and repairs metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures
• Read Blueprints, use Micrometers, Calipers and Comparator
• Make tooling repairs and spot tools for proper metal fits
• Maintain tooling systems
• Maintain assembly line fixtures and spare parts inventory
• Read blueprints & work with precise tolerances
• Trouble shooting maintenance repair and fabrication of machine parts, dies, etc.
• May be assigned other miscellaneous duties (including training) by department supervision/leadership
• Strong diagnostic skills required
• Engel, Milacron, Nissei and or other machines, lathes, mills experience
